Read Across America Author Visit

Cambria and Jackson Elementary hosted a guest author, Mr. Daryl Cobb, on Monday, February 27th to kick-off Read Across America week. Mr. Cobb had an interactive program to teach students topics about writing, such as discovering good ideas, the importance of words, and creating conflict. The students were entertained by his high energy, storytelling and music. It was a great way to get students motivated about reading and writing during this special week! The Central Cambria Education Foundation was proud to provide funding for Mr. Cobb’s visit to our school.

Boys’ Basketball Advances to Elite Eight!

We have some of our own March madness brewing in Ebensburg. The Central Cambria boys’ basketball team advanced to the Elite Eight in the PIAA Class AAA tournament for the first time in school history with a 67-63 win over Riverside. Evan Bopp scored 27 in the win, and went over 1,000 points for his career. The boys are back in action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic, the WPIAL champs. The game is at Norwin High School. We hope to see many of our Pittsburgh area alumni out to support the Red Devils as they look to survive and advance!

Become your class’s Ambassador to the Central Cambria Education Foundation.

The Central Cambria Education Foundation (CCEF) has been a part of the Central Cambria School District community since 2004. Since that time, the CCEF has strived to support the students, the teachers, and the CCHS community by funding educationally related activities. Those activities include summer camps, field trips, scholarships, and many other worthwhile projects. To grow into an even more valuable asset to our school district community, the CCEF needs your help. If you would like to become the Ambassador for your graduating class, please contact Alumni Director Curt Mellott at 525-4960 or email Curt at We hope to have an Ambassador for each ECHS and CCHS class. What would an Ambassador do? You would work with Curt to foster a relationship between the Foundation and your classmates. You will let Curt know when reunions are happening, when classmates receive recognition, when they relocate, etc. You will also be asked to attend a quarterly meeting with Curt where you will be updated on the Foundation and where your opinions about the Foundation will be discussed. It will be rewarding and it will be FUN! Hope to hear from all.
